Baptism

Does Baptism save you? No
The act of baptism does not save you, it is an act in response to salvation.

Does Baptism make me closer to God, or holier in my position before Him? No

What is Baptism then?
It is an act of obedience, following in the example set by Jesus, in making a public declaration of the choice one has already made to follow Christ. It’s a picture of dying to yourself, and raising to new life in Christ.
